Obstetric Life Support: Preparing Healthcare Workers to Optimize Equitable Treatment of Maternal Medical Emergencies in Rural New England

Speaker:

Andrea Shields, MD, MS, Associate Professor

Rural communities experience significant disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity due to limited access to specialized care. Training in Obstetric Life Support (OBLS) equips healthcare providers with critical skills to improve maternal outcomes and reduce these inequities. Efforts to adapt OBLS for rural settings focus on practical modifications that enhance accessibility and implementation in resource-limited areas.
